Established in 1923, SPANA’s goal is simple: to improve the welfare of working animals in countries of greatest need.
Through three key activities – treating, training and teaching – we’re inspiring and enabling others to act in the best interests of working animals while also providing practical, professional and sustainable solutions today.
By doing the jobs of trucks, tractors and taxis, these animals help provide a small income for families in many of the world’s lowest-income communities. However, without SPANA, most of working animals would have no access to veterinary care when they are sick or injured, or their owners would have no means to pay for it. We rely entirely on our loyal supporters to help us in our huge but vital task.
